This week's post will be shorter, but still just as powerful.
We started off with a classic dodgeball game boys versus girls. While this didn't have much to do with the theme of the night it was still important. Many years ago when Joe became a youth minister, the very first night they played dodgeball. And his point was that things change. Lifeteen for him has changed over the years. The way things start is not always how they end...and the things in between? it's always different. It's kind of like our faith don't you think? You start out with the innocence and faith of a child. A child has no idea what time it is what is going to happen etc. They have faith that their parents will take care of them. Then they grow up and have all these temptation and lose their purity and faith journey. Then as they get older after they have been married their kids have grown they come back to their faith. This is how we tied the dodgeball game into the night...but mainly it was to have fun.
The main theme of the night was to finish strong. We started with an opening story about a man who hours after the marathon olympics were over a man finished the race. He was asked why he was just now finishing. He said my country sent me here to finish the race, not to quit.
There is so much we can learn from this. Don't quit things half way through. Finish what you started, and most importantly, don't live day to day on what's cool. Live your life and finish strong in what you believe. It is okay to question your faith, but be prepared for the answers. Men live your lives with a purpose and girls be a princess but also be a warrior. Stand up for yourself and always finish strong.
God didn't give us today for us to quit. He gave it to us to finish strong.
Have a great week and God Bless
Lyndsey
